Ameloblastic fibro odontoma: clinical case report

Ameloblastic fibro odontoma is an infrequent and benign odontogenic tumor that affects primarily children and young adults between the first and second decade of life.
This paper is a case report of a 12 - year - old male patient who attended at “Don Benito Quinquela Martín” Pediatric Dental Hospital presenting this benign odontogenic tumour associated to an impacted permanent lower right canine. The treatment plan included a multidisciplinary collaboration between the Departments of Preventive Dentistry, Dentomaxilar Surgery, Orthodontics and Speech Pathology. In the first stage, preventive measures and infections were treated by the Department of Preventive Dentistry. The second stage was the surgical removal of the lesion and the associated dental structures. The patient’s evolution was favourable, so an Orthodontic treatment was developed. Objective: to describe the clinical situation of a 12 - year - old male patient with a diagnosis of ameloblastic fibro odontoma with an interdisciplinary approach and within a comprehensive treatment plan. Conclusion: premature clinical and radiographic diagnosis is essencial in pediatric dentistry to enable early diagnosis of potential lesions and avoiding future complications.
