Clinical and psychomotor features of children with and without bruxism, in pre-school children in private schools in Asuncion-Paraguay

The objectives of this research were to determine the prevalence of bruxism, the asociation between bruxism and the psicomotors characteristics before during and after sleep, and the asociation between bruxism and sign and symptoms in 432 preschool children of private schools of Asunción Paraguay.
A questionaire was given to the parents to determine the prevalence of bruxism and the psicomotors cahracteristics of the children and a clinical examination was perform to find the association between bruxism and its sign and symptoms.
The prevalence of bruxism was of 41%, 38% during sleep. No associations were found between the psicomotors characteristics during the day and bruxism, a strong association was found between bruxism and “movement during sleep” p< 0,000001 “interruted sleep” p= 0,0001 “dificulty to fall asleep” p= 0,001. the sign with stronger associaton was teeth ware grade 2 it the anterior section p<0,000001 and in the posterior section p= 0,00001, the other sign and symptoms studied didn´t show any statistical significant results.Key words: symptom, bruxism, psychomotor, biotype facial, tooth wear
